Santa Monica CA based Beachbody LLC is getting ready for the national launch of its new home fitness program called Insanity?, developed with celebrity trainer and choreographer Shaun T. You might be familiar with Beachbody’s previous successes, among them Power 90, Turbo Jam, and the now Iconic P90X Extreme Fitness Training System with Tony Horton.
The product review team at Extreme Fitness Results had the chance to take a sneak peak at the new workout program and wanted to share our findings with the Extreme Fitness Results Community:
1. Insanity is slated to be released on July 13th. Expect a major media campaign and the infomercial running on major remnant media slots (i.e. Saturday morning on Spike, CNBC, etc) starting in mid July.
2. The rumored price is $119.85 for the basic kit. An upgrade kit will also be available but the price has not yet been disclosed.
3. The Basic Kit will include 10 DVD Workouts, including a fitness test called “Dig Deeper” which will be performed every 2 weeks as a way to benchmark progress. In addition to the 10 DVD workouts, the program will include an easy to follow fitness guide, an elite nutrition guide, a wall calendar and a welcome letter.
4. The Upgrade Kit (price TBD) will include 3 additional workout DVDs plus a 60 day supply of Beachbody’s P90X Results and Recovery Formula (also known as the P90X Recovery Drink).
5. Beachbody and Extreme Fitness Results will provide a no questions asked, 60 day money back guarantee on all purchases.
The program will be marketed to men and women in top physical shape like extreme athletes, cardio lovers, and graduates of other Beachbody programs. Insanity is not designed for weight loss, although weight loss can be expected depending on the caloric intake of participants. This is a high impact workout, and it is not intended for people that do not exercise regularly and pregnant women.
The program uses a concept called Maximum interval training over a two month period. Unlike other programs, Insanity’s duration is only 60 days. This home fitness program relies heavily on cardio and plyometric exercises, and the use of body weight as the primary source of resistance. It will not require bands, weights, or accessories.
From a training perspective, traditional interval training features long periods of moderate exercise followed by short bursts of intense effort. In this program, Shaun T has turned concept on its head. During the Insanity workout participants do long interval of maximum effort exercises followed by short periods of rest. The idea is to have people working out at maximum capacity on every workout, doing as many reps as possible.
Asked about the origins of the program, Shaun T stated that Insanity was conceived as a way to help fitness enthusiasts who wanted to reach the next level of physical fitness and be part of the ultimate fitness challenge. This is a program that will help individuals get ready to compete in marathons, triathlons, or achieve top physical condition.
